Through these conversations we try to understand what our customers think about us. Today we are traveling to Mexico City in Mexico to speak with la Q.B.F. Maria Jezabel Vite Casanova, Head of the Blood Bank which is part of the Bité Médica Hospital in Mexico.

The Bité Médica Hospital offers a functional alternative in health services that meet the needs and requirements of prevention, diagnosis and treatment in various medical specialties. The hospital has different services such as a cardiovascular clinic, a preventive medicine clinic, a surgery unit, a unit for hospitalizations, an intensive care unit, a blood bank, etc.

1. Could you explain what your activities consist of?

I collaborate in a private health sector establishment, the Bité Médica Hospital located in the Alvaro Obregon district of Santa Fe in Mexico City. The blood bank offers a complete service for all types of clinical and surgical requirements.

The equipment used in the Blood Bank is for storing and preserving erythrocyte concentrates, fresh frozen plasma and cryoprecipitates, as well as reagents.

2. Why is there a need for cold storage?

To ensure the correct storage and distribution of blood components to the different hospital care services.

3. Which products did you buy from B Medical Systems? For which purpose?

MP380S: Storage of erythrocyte concentrates, fresh frozen plasma and cryoprecipitates in storage for recipients/patients.

MF290S: Storage of reagents and erythrocyte concentrates in custody.

MP370S: Storage of fresh frozen plasma and cryoprecipitates.

4. What are the features that you liked the most? Could you please talk about the performance of the devices?

They are effective for the cold chain required for the storage and preservation of blood components. The correct storage at the recommended temperature ranges allows for the decrease and delay of storage lesions. Knowing that erythrocytes can be stored for up to 42 days and platelets for 5 to 7 days under controlled conditions, as multiple changes during their conservation can have adverse effects  on each of the blood components, altering their biological functions.

5. Have you found in B Medical Systems a trustworthy partner?

Of course, their equipment is highly reliable and of excellent quality.

6. How did you learn about B Medical Systems?

As one of the main representatives of the National Blood Bank in Mexico I have a long career in the area of the blood bank, so I both have used the company’s devices in the past and know part of the history of B Medical Systems.

As a Blood Bank professional, I have made use of B Medical Systems equipment since they were Electrolux in 2000. Approximately in 2001 they became Dometic, and in 2015 they became B Medical Systems. I certainly know their history and can confidently testify that B Medical Systems is a trusted company with the highest quality products.

7. How long have you been a B Medical Systems customer?

For more than 23 years (since 2000), considering all its transformations.

8. Are you satisfied with the equipment?

Of course, B Medical Systems’ cold chain equipment is of excellent quality and the combined Refrigerator/Freezer equipment is one of my favourites.

9. Would you recommend B Medical Systems to your peers?

I can confidently give my recommendation to other laboratories and blood banks to use B Medical Systems’ equipment.
