The global healthcare sector is undergoing significant changes, requiring medical device manufacturing companies to keep up with the fast rate of development. As a pioneering company, B Medical Systems stimulates innovation in the medical device industry. It strives to address unmet needs in the transport, processing and storage of temperature-sensitive materials. Its intellectual property portfolio already includes more than 100 patented solutions and registered designs, a number that is growing every day.
The needs and challenges faced by health professionals across the world keep on evolving. In the late 1970s, the World Health Organization was seeking a reliable solution to track the heat exposure of thermosensitive vaccines. Today, health ministries can rely on high-tech systems to monitor the accurate and real-time performance. From one central platform, they can keep an eye on the entire national vaccine cold chain from anywhere, anytime.
At B Medical Systems, we aim to foster innovation in the medical device industry. Our team and worldwide network of partners are in constant dialogue with the international medical community. Through their eyes, we see the reality of the field. This insight – coupled with our 40 years of experience – enables us to engage in the research and development of innovative medical devices intended to enhance health care quality.
Life-changing technological innovation
Our Health Center Kit is one illustrative example. It is a new-generation harvesting system that makes energy transportable. The Kit collects the excess of energy produced by the highly efficient solar panels that power the vaccine refrigerators. This extra energy then provides lighting and ventilation, but also charges mobile phones and any other vital electronic devices. On wheels and of great autonomy, the Health Center Kit ensures that health professionals have reliable access to electricity in the most remote health clinics. It basically allows them to provide quality care in appropriate conditions. B Medical Systems is the first and only company globally to have received the prestigious WHO Performance-Quality-Safety certification (PQS E007/001) for this category of cold chain equipment.
Designing new products or applications takes time and investment. It requires various phases of testing and a combination of different skills. Not to mention that medical devices are subject to a demanding regulatory environment. Yet, our innovative minds, funding and efforts have been repeatedly acknowledged by the grant of patents. To date, B Medical Systems owns 118 patented solutions in various jurisdictions worldwide, as well as 20 registered designs across US, Europe and Africa.
Innovation for successful patient outcomes
The latest patented solution we registered protects our new contact shock freezing technology. The patented models enable the rapid freezing of blood plasma to a core temperature below -30°C, with two freezing plates inclined at 5°. Studies showed that this creative design better preserves the quality of the donated blood plasma.
