B Medical Systems is launching a new innovation to protect vaccines against power fluctuations in countries where electricity supply is unstable. The technology promises to help health centers administer safe vaccines to children at risk.
“B Medical Systems becomes the first company worldwide to produce vaccine refrigerators that accept all voltages and frequencies worldwide. Our investments in research and development, informed by our field observations, have resulted in this technological innovation. Voltage instability is a big challenge in developing countries, where medical refrigerators die one after another”, says Luc Provost, CEO of B Medical Systems.
Having access to a reliable source of power is particularly crucial for health facilities. Hospitals and vaccination centers, for example, heavily rely on electricity to store temperature-sensitive vaccines within the narrow range recommended by the World Health Organization. Certain regions of the world, particularly rural areas, are prone to abrupt spikes in voltage levels. Those can be destructive for the vaccine refrigerators and endanger the safety of vaccines.
The patent-pending technology developed by B Medical Systems (TCW 40 R AC, TCW 80 AC) helps find a solution to this challenge. The new vaccine refrigerators are equipped with a fully integrated voltage stabilization solution. It ensures that the electricity reaching the sensitive electronics inside the fridge remains constant, even when the voltage is out of its nominal range.
“This breakthrough will help improve the safe storage and operating performance of vaccine refrigerators, where other units fail. It will have a significant impact on the immunization campaigns carried out by Ministries of Health and global health organizations worldwide. More children will receive safe vaccines, further bringing down the number of deaths from vaccine-preventable diseases”, concludes Mr. Provost.
