Chhingchhip is a large village located in the Sherchhip subdivision of the Serchhip district in the Mizoram state. The population of the village is around 3,700 people.
The Chhingchhip Public Health Center is the main center of the region and is responsible of 5 sub centers located in the vicinity. In total, the Health Center is catering to around more than 8,500 people residing in the neighborhood.
- Could you explain what your activities consist of?
I’m Dr. Andrew and I’m a medical officer who looks after all the issues related to the health centre, including indoor & outdoor tasks. I am responsible in handling the outpatient department (OPD) and managing patients who visit our minor OT (operation theater) departments. I am also responsible for managing the vaccine stocks needed to cater the health centre’s and nearby sub centres’ needs. My role also includes fulfilling any other requirement related to the functioning of the main health centre and 5 more sub centres in the vicinity. My daily routine consists of dealing with patients who visit the centre for their checkups in our OPD or for any treatment, dressing of wounds and more required to be taken in our Minor OT facility.
The mission of the Centre is to provide the people of the village with right medical support, increase their awareness on the importance of vaccinations for them and their family members, and to help them with regular basic health check-ups on timely basis so that each individual can be treated successfully in case of any illnesses. The staff is regularly trained in first aid procedures, to timely check the medicine stocks to ensure their best potency is maintained and to track the expiry date of each medicine.
- Why is there a need of cold storage in your organization?
Chhingchhip is the only primary vaccine storage center present to support all other sub centers in the vicinity. When the sub centers require vaccines, they come and collect them. We store the COVID-19 vaccines and routine immunization vaccines such as those against Influenza (PB), Poliovirus (OPV), and Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR). Storing vaccines is a major concern for the Public Center and the conditions are challenging, as the power supply is unstable. We know that cold storage is very important to store vaccines and maintain their potency for the long term.
- Which products did you buy from B Medical Systems? For which purpose?
We received the model TCW2043SDD from the government which has supported many centres by providing them with the necessary cold chain equipment for the storage of vaccines.
- What are the features that you liked the most? Could you please talk about the performances of the devices?
The unit is very good and simple to operate, very light weight in case we need to move it from place to place. It is also capable of functioning during irregular power supply. The height of the fridge is very convenient to use for all the staff and it does not occupy much space.
- How are you using the B Medical Systems’ product and how does it benefit your institution?
The unit is being used at the primary health centre where all the vaccines are being stored and shipped from to nearby sub centres when required. This unit performs as a hub storage of all types of vaccines to support the nearby villages and people. The most useful part of the product is its hold over time and temperature stability which makes it a very reliable unit under unstable weather which can lead to an irregular power supply.
- Have you found in B Medical Systems a trustworthy partner?
Yes, we are very happy with the company. We had another ILR refrigerator from another brand and we faced a lot of issues when there was no power supply in the center. We had to move the vaccines to another back-up refrigerator, a procedure which can lead to potency loss. With B Medical Systems’ units, this burden is gone. The unit has an impressive hold over time as it can function without constant electricity supply and still maintain the appropriate temperatures required for the vaccines stored.
- How did you learn about B Medical Systems?
It’s our first experience with B Medical Systems. We received the unit through a government tender.
- How long have you been a B Medical Systems customer?
We were using another brand before, but we decided to choose B Medical Systems in May 2022.
- Are you satisfied with the equipment?
Very much satisfied and happy about the product and its performance. After using this product, we didn’t have to worry about power supply anymore and the unit is simple to operate. Moreover, the After Sales Team has been very supportive and the installation was done very smoothly.
- Would you recommend B Medical Systems?
Sure, I would recommend such units to other centres and people.
