Ultra-Low Temperature Freezers of Superior Energy Efficiency

In recent years, the end-users of medical refrigeration products worldwide have started focusing more on the energy efficiency of laboratories due to the increased costs of electricity, regulations, and awareness related to the environmental impact. In particular, Ultra-Low Temperature Freezers (ULTs) can be one of the most energy-intensive pieces of equipment in a laboratory. For instance, an average 25-cubic foot ULT unit uses approximately 20 kWh of energy per day – as much as a small house.

This paper highlights the new features of the Ultra-Low Temperature Freezers designed by B Medical Systems to deliver superior energy efficiency without without compromising the security of the samples stored.

Tests show that the refrigeration system and the strong sealing gaskets not only reduce the energy consumption by up to 30%, substantially bringing down the operating cost, but also save up to 5.6 tonnes of CO2 equivalents from entering the atmosphere.
