As the most populous country in Africa, Nigeria has been improving its vaccination rate over the last years. Building a strong vaccine cold chain system was essential for the good health of Nigerian children.

This paper retraces the transformation of the national cold chain in Nigeria since 2005 and the performance of the vaccine cold chain equipment. In the past 15 years, more than 19,000 units were installed by B Medical Systems across the country, including over 5,000 Solar Direct Drive devices that run on solar energy only.
