B Medical Systems, a Luxembourg based global leader of vaccine cold chain and medical refrigeration manufacturer, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Omega Seiki Mobility, an Anglian Omega Group company manufacturing electric vehicles, for strengthening the cold chain logistics associated with the last mile delivery of COVID-19 vaccines. The MoU was signed today in the presence of H.E. Mr. Jean Claude Kugener, the Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to India at New Delhi.

Under the terms of the MoU, B Medical Systems and Omega Seiki Mobility will collaborate to strengthen the last-mile delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine and other medical products in India by using B Medical Systems’ transport boxes and Omega Seiki’s electrical vehicles. B Medical Systems’ transport boxes will be calibrated to the temperature profile of the vaccine that needs to be transported and will be transported to the last mile in Omega Seiki electric vehicles.

Ambassador Kugener highly welcomed this new partnership.  “I am extremely happy that B Medical Systems and Omega Seiki join forces today. I am sure that this new partnership in the field of medical refrigeration of vaccines will be extended soon to other products as I see a growing need in the transport and deliveries requirements throughout the country in the coming years. Omega Seiki has this expertise to transport the blue boxes of B Medical Systems safely during the last mile delivery. This cooperation adds to the many partnerships Luxembourg companies have launched with Indian partners during the 73 years of our diplomatic relations and contribute hugely to the strong partnership between both countries” said the Ambassador on this occasion.

Manufactured using roto-moulding technology, B Medical Systems’ transport boxes are known for their durability and sturdiness. RCW 25, the flagship product of the B Medical Systems’ transport box portfolio, provides a broad range of storage conditions from -80°C to 8°C, thereby offering a versatile option to meet the needs of the varying temperature profiles of the COVID-19 vaccines. The transport boxes are WHO PQS certified and are extensively used across more than 80 countries across the world today.

Apart from vaccine delivery, Omega Seiki also sees food delivery as a potential segment for the use of B Medical Systems transport boxes. “Food delivery to customers is a very important segment for us. We will use B Medical systems boxes to store and deliver food to our customers in most hygienic and safe way. These boxes follow the highest safety and hygiene norms and have been certified by WHO for use. We will use these boxes to store and transport fresh food, meat products and dairy products. The boxes will be calibrated to maintain exactly the temperature needed for each of these products. We want to ensure food is delivered in a hygienic & safe way from kitchen to the dining table” Says Mr. Uday Narang.

Omega Seiki expects to start the distribution of B Medical boxes across Indian states in the next few weeks. A hub and spoke model for distribution will be charted for a pan India rollout. The company is in talks with several states for last-mile vaccine administration.
